FAQ – Florida Traffic School

Florida Traffic School Online

How long do I have to elect traffic school?

You have 30 days after receiving the citation to make an election. Most clerks are very strict on this requirement and will not allow you to make this election on the 31st day following issuance of the citation.

Who do I make the traffic school election with?

You need to make the election with the Clerk of Court from which you received the violation. For example, if you live in Miami but received the violation in Collier County, you need to elect traffic school with the clerk in Collier County. Once you have completed the traffic school on www.TheTrafficSchool.com,  send your certificate of completion to the Collier County Clerk Traffic division. Are all traffic schools the same?

No. You will not receive credit if you take a BDI class from a school that was not approved by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (Florida DHSMV). All of our courses are approved by the Florida DHSMV.

Why should I take a class from The Traffic School.com?

There is one reason above all else, and that is ease of use. Our on-line traffic school has all the materials you will need to complete the course from any computer which has Internet access. We offer multiple choice and true and false questions. We have toll free live phone personnel available for your registration or course questions. The course is available on our website 24 hours a day, seven days a week so it works around your schedule and if you can’t do the course all in one sitting, don’t worry. You can do the course in sections and go on and off-line many times.

Why should I care if points are assessed to my driving record?

If you elect to just pay your citation and not take traffic school, your insurance rates can increase and accumulating points can lead to a suspension of your license.
